CIBI | Can I Buy It
A point-of-decision finance app for salaried people. Scan or enter a price, check it against your budget and goal, then get a Safe, Careful, or Over verdict before you buy.

CIBI is a point-of-decision personal finance app for salaried people. It answers the question that normal budgeting apps avoid until it is too late: can I buy this right now?
The app lets the user scan or enter a price, classify the purchase as a Need or Want, compare it against a 50/30/20 monthly plan, and return a calm verdict: Safe, Careful, or Over.
What I built
The first version is iOS-first, built with Expo and React Native. It includes onboarding, budget setup, one active savings goal, local-first finance storage, OCR-assisted price capture, a deterministic decision engine, Supabase auth/sync, RevenueCat subscription wiring, and tests around the decision and finance flows.
Why it exists
Most finance apps show the damage after the month ends. CIBI moves the help earlier, into the moment where the user still has agency. The app does not approve or deny purchases. It names the tradeoff and leaves the decision with the user.

The core loop: scan or enter a price, then get the decision before the purchase follows you home.
